The 18th Annual APETT Technical Conference
Engineering Infrastructure, Planning and Development
for Disaster Preparedness (ATC-2005)
Further Information In the past several years, the Caribbean has suffered major disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding, etc. These disasters often cause severe and ongoing destruction in the form of damage to cultural, economic and intellectual properties. On such occasions, the engineering communities in the region receive increased requests for effective practices and information on building and protecting infrastructure, planning and development, strengthening disaster preparedness and management, and response for the salvage and recovery of property. APETT's 18th Technical Conference (ATC-2005) offers a platform for sharing experiences, presenting new results, and reviewing recent developments by academics, professionals, experts, government officials, and industry practitioners. It provides an opportunity to study a proactive rather than reactive approaches to engineering Infrastructure, planning and development for disaster preparedness. Papers related to the Conference theme are invited but not limited to the disciplines, areas or topics below:
Target Audience of the Conference Executives, managers, engineers, professionals, policy makers from industries, private and public sectors, and people who are interested in the Conference theme. Submission of Abstracts and Paper Manuscripts We welcome abstracts of originality, relevance to the theme, soundness and clarity. The abstracts should not exceed 300 words in English and be sent to e-mail kfpun@eng.uwi.tt or fax (868) 662 4414 (Attn: Dr K F Pun). Submissions should have a cover page containing the title of the paper along with the names, affiliations, and complete mailing addresses of all authors including fax and phone number. Correspondence will be directed to the first named author unless indicated otherwise. Abstracts will be reviewed for technical merit and content. A maximum of eight pages is allocated in the Proceedings for each accepted paper. A selection of good papers will be published in a Special Issue of APETT's Journal and/or recommended for a fast track publication in the West Indies Journal of Engineering or other journals.
Dates to Remember
Extended Deadline for Abstracts Submission: Monday 14th February 2005 Registration Normal registration fees for delegates are US$150 and APETT and IEEE members and staff members of co organisers are US$100, respectively. Registration fees will be waived for presenting authors but no travel funding will be provided. If a co-author would also register for the Conference, a 50% discount on the registration fees would be applied. Conference Secretariat
